My Approach to Psychotherapy

My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in the belief that growth happens within the context of safe, trusting relationships. I strive to create a compassionate and supportive space where clients feel understood, respected, and able to explore both challenges and strengths. Together, we work to deepen self-awareness—understanding thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and the patterns that shape them—so that you can feel more empowered to navigate life’s complexities and move toward a greater sense of well-being and purpose.

I tailor my approach to each individual and family, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and systems-based perspectives. At times, our work may focus on present challenges and practical strategies; at other times, we may explore how past experiences and relationships continue to influence the present. I balance insight-oriented reflection with concrete tools for change, always with an eye toward your unique goals, strengths, and context. Whether working with a child, adult, or family, I consider the broader “village” that surrounds each person and, when helpful, collaborate with schools and other professionals to support meaningful and lasting growth.

How the Process Works for the Clinical Practice

If you are feeling stuck—whether in your own life, in your relationships, or in understanding how best to support your child—it may be a good time to reach out.  The process begins with a brief, complimentary 15-minute phone consultation, which you can schedule through my website or by leaving a voicemail.  This initial conversation gives us an opportunity to connect, discuss what’s bringing you in, and determine whether it feels like a good fit to work together.

If we decide to move forward, we will schedule an initial intake session at my standard rate.  During this first meeting, my goal is to develop a deeper understanding of your concerns, your goals, and the broader context of your situation.  Together, we will identify a thoughtful path forward, including the scope and frequency of our work.  When working with children, I begin with one or two parent sessions to gather a full developmental history and better understand your child’s needs before meeting with them directly.  Ongoing collaboration with parents is an essential part of my approach, ensuring that we are working together to support your child in a consistent and meaningful way.

I am not in-network with insurance providers.  Payment is processed after each session, and at the end of each month I provide a superbill that you may submit for out-of-network reimbursement.  My current rate is $250 per session; in certain circumstances, I offer a sliding scale, and I welcome that conversation during our initial consultation.

Let's Talk

The first step in psychotherapy is talking. Let's find a time where we can meet and talk about what's on your mind.
